Eggmaggedon was built in seventy-two hours for Mini Jam 119 under the theme Heaven.
The goal is simple but intense: collect the souls of the fallen, dodge endless meteor storms, and deliver every last one to the skies before time runs out.

Gameplay

Players guide a glowing vessel through collapsing city streets and volcanic skies while balancing precision and survival.
Each soul delivered increases the combo multiplier, chaining score bursts and pushing tension to the limit.
Miss a soul or take a hit and the combo shatters, sending the score back to zero.
Momentum, spatial awareness, and nerve define every run.

Technical Highlights

The project pushed Unreal Engine 5’s limits within the tight jam window.
Over one thousand active characters interact with real-time destruction, all optimized through Vertex Animation Textures baked in Houdini.
Chaos Destruction provides reactive debris and impact fields without sacrificing performance.
A custom entity-pooling system and distance-based culling ensure smooth framerates even during full meteor barrages.
Spline-based flight paths allow players to ascend dynamically from any location, curving through storms toward Heaven in a single uninterrupted motion.

Tools and Process

Unreal Engine 5, Blueprints, Houdini, Blender, FL Studio, Perforce
Art direction drew on low-poly stylization with cinematic lighting and soft volumetric skies.
Audio was composed to mirror intensity, blending angelic choirs with rhythmic percussion as chaos unfolds.

Result

Fast, explosive, and surprisingly emotional, Eggmaggedon turns pure destruction into a race for redemption.
Every run is a fight between fragility and chaos, and every perfect ascent feels like a miracle.
